Title: You’ll Be the Death of Me
Author: Karen M. McManus
Publisher: Penguin
Pub. Date: 02 Dec 2021

Synopsis:

Ivy, Mateo, and Cal were close friends in middle school. They lost contact soon after they entered the doors of high school. They met again on the day they all needed a break from school. They decided to relive ‘The Best Days of Their Life’, which is the day they became friends. However, they didn’t expect that this day they will walk into the middle of a murder scene. Brian “Boney” Mahoney was supposed to be accepting his newly won position of class president, but instead, he was the one laying on the ground.

Book Review:

The story is about teenagers that got themselves into such a mess that slowly they had no idea how to get out of it. They made so many mistakes on their way but without them, there wouldn’t be such a good book by the end. I like that instead of just ignoring what they’d seen and leaving it all for the police, they tried to learn who’s guilty of Boney’s death. One of the reasons for them was that Ivy was the main suspect in this case.

Besides them playing detectives, I love how many subjects this book included like the relationship between an adult and a minor, drugs, school pressure, consequences of revenge, and unequal treatment of people of color. But that wasn’t all. Each of the characters also had their own secrets that turned into a storm between this group of theirs when the truth came out. However, I think that this part was one of the things that made them stronger and finally got them back to being friends.

I was suspecting so many in this book to be a murderer, or just connected to the murder. By the end, even the main characters were on my list of suspects. I was quite surprised when the truth came out, I didn’t even think that this person could be guilty of that, which means the author was successful with the ending of the story.

I’m not sure what to think about the ending. It was quite open so I’m wondering if there’s going to be the second book in the series. The author would need to come up with a new murder or drama to make it work but I would be happy to read it. This book has only 280 pages but it’s very easy to connect with the main characters, which is a major advantage. Overall, I loved the book and I think it might be my favorite book of this author.

Book Review // The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Title: The Beautiful Ones
Author: Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Publisher: Quercus Books, Jo Fletcher Books
Pub. Date: 27 Apr 2021

Synopsis

This spring Nina has a chance to join her cousin and his wife Valerie during the Grand Season. Her debut didn’t start as she wished. It was caused by her struggles to control her telekinesis abilities. She became a subject of gossip for many high-positioned people in society. When the entertainer Hector Auvray arrives in town, Nina’s main goal is to meet him. He’s telekinetic like her, however, he was able to base his carrier around it.
When they meet for the first time, he sees potential in her and tries to help her to master her talent. As her skills are getting better, her love for Hector is blossoming in her. However, she doesn’t know that the love she develops in her heart isn’t mutual.

Hector arrived in town with only one goal, to find the woman he loves. A few years back they fell madly in love with each other. Before Hector left with a promise to make his name and status in the society, he proposed to Valerie. However, before he succeeded she broke the engagement and married a rich and high-positioned man. Now when Hector is back in town he tries to get closer to her despite her marriage to another man. When he meets the cousin of Valerie’s husband, he sees the opportunity to get closer to Valerie, and he takes it.

Book Review

I heard a lot about Silvia Moreno-Garcia books, however, I’ve never read any of them before. After reading this novel, I have the feeling I will read them all. This book was spectacular. The story isn’t extraordinary, however, the writing, and the characters are. The writing skills of the author made this book feel special. Every page was dragging me in and didn’t want to let go. I didn’t want to finish reading this book too fast because I wanted to savor it as long as I could.

One of my favorite parts of the book is the time when Hector trains Nina and helps her to explore her talents in the right way. I could feel that the feelings between them were born. I was very upset when Hector noticed it too late. He still had Valerie in his head. I couldn’t understand how he could keep being devoted to a woman like Valerie. One conversation with her, and I knew she has venom in her veins. The only thing she ever cared about is her. She was using anyone she could to benefit from it. Thankfully, he wasn’t blind till the end of the book, and he changed his actions. Even if he knew that it’s too late for him to go back to Nina, he still tried in the best way possible. He has shown her that he’s the only person around here that listens to her and accepts her the way she is. No changes are needed.

Hector is a good and simple man. He believes in love and tries to always follow his heart even if he knows from the start that he’s in a lost position. I didn’t like the part that he was tricking Nina, just to get closer to Valerie, but he was punished for it soon after. As much as I liked him, I think he deserved what Valerie did to him. He was trying to break her marriage and used Nina to make it happen. However, he knew he did wrong and slowly was repairing what he did wrong. He was even ready to take the death shot for it. I think he will always regret his actions.

Nina is such a sweet and energized young lady. She was never interested in being proper. She wanted to develop her telekinesis skills and find true love with a man who will accept her. Through pain and tears, she finally found her place in the world. Many people around her tried to use her for their benefits but thankfully she avoided it all and found her happily ever after.

Book Review // Fable by Adrienne Young

Fable (Fable, #1) by Adrienne Young

Title: Fable
Author: Adrienne Young
Publisher: Titan Books
Pub. Date: 26 Jan 2021

Synopsis

Fable is the daughter of the most powerful trader in the Narrows. She was raised on the sea that became partly her home. After the loss of her mother, Fable was left by her father on the island that is known for thievery and lack of food. After four years of hard work, she’s finally getting closer to go back to her father and demand her rightful place beside him and his crew. However, because of few obstacles, she has to ask for help from a young trader called West to take her on his ship.

During the voyage through the Narrows, she didn’t need to only convince the crew that she can be trusted, but she had to also come face to face with her father’s rivalry. Together with West and his crew, they need to face the new dangerous adventures on their way. However, not everything is going her way. Especially that the goal she was dreaming about last few years isn’t ideal.

Book Review

Lately, I have started reading more books about the sea. This book was much different from the ones I read before. The story is very unique. The book is about traders, the sea, and a young girl with unique skills she needs to hide from people. Her biggest dream is to become a member of her father’s crew. To get there she needs to learn how to survive on her own and find her way back to her father.

Fable doesn’t trust anyone, after she was abandoned by her father, she had to live in poverty and surrounded by thieves. She’s very mature for her age, and also very mature. I adore her way of thinking and strategizing. She finds ways to solve a problem quicker than any other person that she knows. However, you can clearly see that she has a lot of sadness and disappointment in her life. The first moment she could finally fill her heart with happiness was when the crew of Marigold finally accepts her. She feels that after a long time she finally belongs somewhere.

I was a little bit disappointed with the scene when she finally met her father. I understand his behavior and why she treats her the way he does but I thought he will at least show some emotions that he missed her or he’s glad she’s alive. He feels empty after losing Fable’s mother. He doesn’t make sense with why he wants to keep Fable away. He says that life on the sea isn’t a life for her. However, the world where she alone isn’t safer. If West wouldn’t help her, she would already be dead.

West is an interesting character. What’s funny about him is that by looking only at his personality you may think that he’s a grown adult, while he’s still a young man. In the beginning, I thought he is at least 35 and then the author describes him as a young boy. He’s the most caring person in this book. Even if he doesn’t show it, he does everything for Fable’s well-being. He saves her at the moment she’s the most vulnerable and doesn’t stop looking out for her when their deal is off after the voyage.

The love plot in this book is adorable. It’s unexpected and cute in a way that you can feel some chemistry between them but on the other hand, you are not sure if it’s love or being grateful. It’s hard to love anyone in the lifestyle they both are leading. Fable’s parents are the best example of it. We get only one moment of them, but I don’t feel like there was more needed. Especially, with the values, they are sharing. They don’t want to risk their lives for a passionate moment.

I’m really curious about what’s going to happen in the next book. The ending of this book was great so I can’t wait to read the next part. I think it will be published on March 16th so there is a little time left until I can read it. I would like to thank NetGalley, Titan Books, and Adrienne Young for providing me an ARC copy of this book. I’m grateful for finally being able to read this book.

Blog Tour Review // Creatures of the Night by Grace Collins

Title: Creatures of the Night
Author: Grace Collins
Publisher: Wattpad Books
Pub. Date: 13th July 2021

Synopsis

Milena’s biggest dream from the time she was a little girl was to become a huntress like her guardian Charles, and the leader of their people. However, he and his people had different plans for her. What she knew was that they were hunting the monsters they called creatures of the night. She always saw murderers in them while they were only protecting their people from her people. She learned about it soon after she turned twenty. On her twentieth birthday she learned that she won’t become a huntress, but a sacrifice. Charles was raising, and protecting her this whole time just to sacrifice her for immortality. She was lucky enough that someone was always nearby watching her, and making sure she wouldn’t get hurt. On the day of the sacrifice, the leader of the creatures of the night came to her rescue. He took her away and shared the truth with her. Now it’s her turn to decide what to do with this knowledge and learn who she can trust.

Book Review

I think I didn’t read any books about werewolves for about ten years. When I started reading books they all were about vampires and werewolves, so after reading a thousand of them, I didn’t feel like reading stories like this anymore. However, since I had a good surprise with books like Crave, and The Beautiful that was about vampires, I decided to give this book a chance. It was so good that I read it in two days. I wasn’t expecting it, and imagine my shock when after two hours I was already halfway through the book.

The world in this book was divided into four species; humans, shifters, hollowers, and whispers. The whispers were the most powerful of them all because of their unique powers, however, with years they became almost extinct since only one of them was left behind on the earth. Wolf shifters dedicated their lives to protecting the vulnerable humans from the colonies of hollowers that are feeding on them to survive. This was the first thing that intrigued me to read it because of its uniqueness. I liked the fact that when you read the book you learn about this world together with Milena since she found out about all of this first when she was taken away from hollowers. It let me understand the world and the story better.

In the beginning, I thought the trope in this book was the chosen one but how wrong I was. The book is full of plot twists and you never know what’s gonna happen next, and who you and Milena can trust. Milena grew a lot as a person in this book since after she was betrayed by her only family she didn’t know who he was. It took her quite some time to figure it out but it also made her stronger. Elias was a great help to her. He made her feel safe for the first time in a long time. He gave her a place to belong, and people to care about. You have no idea how badly I wanted them to be together. You can feel the chemistry between them but he keeps his distance, which made me drive crazy. Well, I understand why he does it but man it’s so frustrating.

Elias is my favorite character in this book but it’s not a surprise. Mysterious and powerful guys were always my weakness. He has something in himself that you just want to get more and more scenes with him. I still feel I didn’t get enough of him, so I hope there will be a second book since there is such a cliffhanger at the end of the book.

Rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What else can I tell you? If you are looking for an original story with new species and a unique plot then you should read this book. It will not disappoint you! I would like to thank FavoritePages, Grace Collins, and Wattpad Books for including me in the blog tour for this book. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

ARC Review // Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Noon

Title: Instructions for Dancing
Author: Nicola Noon
Publisher: Penguin
Pub. Date: 03 Jun 2021

Synopsis

The recovery of a heartbreak takes a long time. Evie learned about it when she caught her dad cheating on her mother. After the divorce, she couldn’t bring herself to forgive him. His actions destroyed her belief in the magic of love. She closed herself on anything that is connected to love. She gave away all her romance books and didn’t allow anyone to get closer to her besides her long-time friends. It wouldn’t change if one day when she met a woman with a little library shelf in front of her house. Evie was on her way to the library two give a few of her books away and decided to leave them there. The woman insisted for her to take the one book that was placed on the shelve “Instructions for Dancing”

However, she would never expect that the book, and meeting with a woman will give her the ability to see couples’ future. By seeing one kiss, she sees a vision of their whole love story.
To understand how it happened, she decides to find the owner of the book. It leads her to the small dance school, where she meets X, a boy who will bring hope to her life.

Book Review:

I think I read three books by Nicola Yoon before, and I loved all of them. However, I think this was the first one that surprised me. I would never think that there will be a drop of magic in this story. I liked the idea of giving Evie the ability to have visions of people’s love moments, and how big of an impact it had on her. Firstly, she understood this gift as a curse of seeing people’s love ending. She couldn’t understand how special love is if there is always an end to it. Before she couldn’t believe in love because of her parents’ divorce, however, this ignited the hate even more. I think it’s the first book I read of how much of the impact the divorce of parents has on their kids. This book was her journey of recovery and finding her way back to have an open heart for people she cares about her.

The book started for me when she met X. From the first conversation, I could feel the sparkle between them. Even if he just had stolen her bike, I knew that this is not the end of their story. Their relationship started with a cute friendly fling when they became dance partners. Thanks to one day of getting to know each other outside the classroom, they went a step further as something closer than friends. Their little meetings, and then dates were my favorite scenes of this book. However, the moments they were dancing together were even better.

I always liked books with a good moral. It made this book special, and even if I was annoyed many times with the first character, I still adore her recovery and a completely new view of her life, and the future. I think it’s a great read for the people that lost their hope for a happy ending, and those who don’t believe in love anymore. This book shows perfectly how special and magical love is, even if it isn’t forever, it has an impact on our lives and brings happiness to our lives.

ARC Review // Kate in Waiting by Becky Albertalli

Title: Kate in Waiting
Author: Becky Albertalli
Publisher: Penguin
Pub. Date: 22 Apr 2021

Synopsis

Kate’s biggest dream is to work as an actress. However, her shy personality doesn’t allow her to exploit her talents. She always gets a small part in the play, and keeps dreaming about the leading part. This year brings new changes to her life. Firstly, a boy from her camp moves into her city and joins her theater circle. Secondly, she gets a big part in a play with a boy she has a major crush on.

The problem is that she’s not the only person who slowly falls in love with Matt. Her best friend Anderson cannot keep his eyes away from him. Kate and Anderson were always having crushes on the same people. They shared everything in their friendship. However, this is the first time that emotions are involved and it makes it harder for them to keep their friendship without jealousy involved. As much as they try, it pushes them further away from each other.

Review

This book is a light, and fast read for the busy days. The book tells a story of a shy girl that dreams big and lives in a shadow of her best friend Anderson. Part of her personality is being his friend, which is kind of sad. However, when a boy they both like comes to their life, she is ready to take her chance with her even if she feels that it will destroy their friendship. Maybe I’m just a kind of person that always cared more about friends than boys I barely knew.

I think I’m getting a little bit too old for this kind of book. I still partly enjoy reading it, however, there are some parts that are very annoying for me. Especially the childish behavior, and hiding things that aren’t that serious. I liked Kate’s musical personality. I feel that she is a very talented person, however, her shyness and humbleness drugs her down anytime she is supposed to show it. I felt so proud of her when she finally got a bigger role in the play. I could see that she finally gets closer to making her dream come true. I also liked the fact that the author kept it realistic and didn’t give her a leading role. It was actually something I thought would happen.  I was nicely surprised.

I think my favorite character in this book was Kate’s brother, Ryan. He was just chilling all book long. He kind of reminded me of my boyfriend so it’s probably a reason why I liked him so much. Even if he was giving me the “I don’t care” vibe all the time, I knew he cares deeply for his sister and family.

I think it’s also important to discuss the love triangle of Matt, Kate, and Anderson. I don’t actually know if you can call it this way. However, what actually surprised me is that from the beginning of the book I knew that there is something in Matt that I knew that he will still surprise me. I knew that there is something missing in his story and it will come soon, and it did. To be honest I wasn’t expecting this. I was pretty sure that there is something bigger going on between Kate and Matt, but well that’s all I will say to not give you spoilers.

Overall, it was a nice read. It wasn’t a book that drugged me into the story and I couldn’t stop reading, but I also wasn’t expecting it to happen. I think I would recommend it more to the younger audience in their teenage years. I’m sure that I would enjoy it much more if I would be 16 again. Now, I’m almost 23 and I cannot handle a teenage drama.

Blog Tour Review // The Cousins by Karen McManus

Title: The Cousins
Author: Karen McManus
Publisher: Penguin Random House Children’s UK
Pub. Date: 03 Dec 2020

Synopsis

The Story family is the royalty of Gull Cove Island. The family is the owner of the resort, which makes them famous around the island. However, they also have a huge scandal in their history. After the sudden death of Abraham’s Story, everything changes for the Story children. Allison, Anders, Adam, and Archer are disinherited. No one knows the reason for it. The only explanation they received was the letter saying, “You know what you did”.

After twenty-five years after the scandal children of Allison, Anders and Adam received an invitation from their grandmother Mildred Story to visit her on the island and work in the resort. Even if they don’t want to go, their parents pressure them to do so.

Milly, Audrey, and Jonah arrive together on the island. However, the grandmother isn’t too happy to see them. She’s surprised to see them and isn’t too welcoming for them. They try to use the time on the island to discover who invited them to the island and why their parents were disinherited.

Book Review

Milly, Audrey, and Jonah are completely different from each other. The only thing that is similar in their lives is the relationships with their parents. Perfect Story siblings are not as perfect as everyone is picturing them and they know it better than anyone else. Audrey and Milly accepted the invitation in the hope to finally meet and be close with a woman they heard so much about. However, Jonah has his won purpose in this trip that surprised me as much as it surprised Milly and Audrey.

Milly is pictured as a beautiful and confident girl, who’s not scared of anything. However, there is much more in her that no one knows. She’s struggling with being abandoned. Her mom keeps her distance for a long time now. Her parents got divorced and her grandmother doesn’t even want to meet her. She lived her life hearing about how proud she should be of being in the Story family, what for me was comical. Everyone repeats that there is no one like them but by having a close look, you can see how broken they all are. There is nothing special about them. However, you can always paint the picture far from reality. I think Milly and Jonah discover that very quickly, however, Audrey can’t stop looking for approval from her family. Milly is the only one who sees to find out who brought them to the island and why their parents were kicked out. However, she didn’t do enough through most of the book to find any necessary information.

Audrey needs approval from every single person in her life. She doesn’t think about what she needs, just what others need. She doesn’t even see when someone is treating her in a way she doesn’t deserve. She will do anything that makes other people happy no matter what. She would love to be more like Milly but it’s not that easy for her. However, thankfully the summer in Gull Cove Island opens her eyes and shows her that she deserves better and that it’s time to show other people she doesn’t need them. Jonah, on the other side, has some other issues. I can’t say much about him because anything I say can be a spoiler, but I can tell you that I like him very much.

Overall, I like this book. It’s not the best book I read this year but it’s good. It’s a similar type as the Inheritance Games, however, it wasn’t as tricky. The only thing that disappointed me in this book, was that throughout almost all books, there were not that many clues on their ways. I thought they will spend more time in Story’s house so they can learn some little details about the past. They found some small things, but it was mostly given by someone else. I hoped that the book will be trickier but well, most of the time expect too much. The only thing that saved this book was the ending, which was phenomenal. It won this book 4 stars, instead of three.

Blog Tour Review // Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston

Title: Amari and the Night Brothers
Author: B.B. Alston
Publisher: Egmont Publishing
Pub. Date: 21 Jan 2021

Book Synopsis

The book tells the story of a young girl Amari. She’s the only black student in the prestigious school she needs to attend. She faces being an outsider every single day. Firstly, because she is black and secondly because she is one of the poor students that can be in this school because of the scholarship. However, it’s not the only thing she needs to go through. Her older brother Quinton went missing this year. The police weren’t able to find any traces to find him.

On the last day of her school, she received an invitation to join the camp that her brother attended when he was her age. This invitation opened a new door for her to discover a supernatural part of her world that is hidden from all the people and to find out what happened to her brother. She wants to use this opportunity and try to find her brother. To do so she needs to go through many try-outs and join the group of supernatural agents.

Book Review

I am amazed by how good this book was! The beginning was a little bit boring but from the time Amari went to the camp, I couldn’t take my eyes off the book. I think we can add this book to the group of books like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson, which are loved by a younger and older audience. This book is very well written and includes a mystery that will keep you reading until you finish the book. I didn’t have much time for reading lately so it took me longer to read it as I wish, but I know that if I could I would read it in one or two days.

After all, Amari went through, I admire her courage the most. Don’t get me wrong she is very smart and kind, but her courage beats everything. From the very beginning, she is willing to take every challenge if it means a step closer to find her brother. At her age, most people would just allow police and agents to work. However, she feels that they don’t do enough, and she decides to do her investigation. Thankfully she’s not alone, she finds people on her way that help her.

The building of the world isn’t very complicated. However, it’s very interesting to learn more and more about it. The characters that appear in the book are all different from each other. Besides Amari, I think Elsie is my second favorite character. No matter what, she was always there for Amari even when they didn’t know each other well. At the time they met, I think they both were in need to find a friend and they became very close ones.

I enjoyed the connection between the villains in the book to the main character. It made the story much more interesting if she would be only assigned as very talented and special. This makes it new and fresh. I definitely wouldn’t enjoy it as much as I did if it would be done differently.

I would like to thank The Write Reads for inviting me to join this book tour! I enjoyed the book a lot and I will look forward to buying myself a copy of it soon so I can read it once again.

Blog Tour ~ Book Review // Venators: Legends Rise by Devri Walls

Title: Venators: Legends Rise
Author: Devri Walls
Publisher: Brown Books Publishing Group
Pub. Date: May 12th 2020

Synopsis

After saving Gray, Rune had to face the consequences of what she had done. Beltran didn’t let her forget about it as he was the one who saw what happened. However, it wasn’t the only thing that she and Grey had to face. During the rescue mission in the faerie lands, Tate sacrificed his freedom to help young Venators to get back to the safety of the council house. Now it’s the time to save him from gladiator games. The journey will be dangerous for each of them. However, the thing that will be the most dangerous for their friendship is secrets.

Book Review

As much as I was annoyed by Grey in the last book, in this part, he completely surprised me with his attitude. I love that he finally recognized that he has his strength, and he doesn’t need to be good at the same things as Rune is. He found his power in kindness and won people with it. Moreover, he finally opened his heart for Rune and shared the secrets that were haunting him his whole life. Another thing I also liked was that people around him finally saw that his not weak and useless. They found that he has qualities that no one has.

Rune, on the other hand, a little bit disappointed me. I saw such great growth in her personality in the last book but in this one, I felt like she got a little bit lost. I can understand it though. She fears what will happen when she will be finally called by a nexie. Moreover, she doesn’t know what to do with her growing feelings toward Beltran. I felt like they were playing each other throughout the whole book. Maybe not even each other but us readers. I was screaming whenever they made one step forward and then two steps back. I want them together so badly. I don’t remember when I shipped someone so badly. They exhausted me so much.

My all-time favorite character in this book is Beltran and he didn’t disappoint me in this book as well. I really like that they showed how smart and caring he is. Obviously, we could see it in the past books but not at this level. His feelings toward Rune are growing very fast and we can see how hard it is for him to stay away from her. Moreover, for the first time, we can see him being jealous after her kiss with Grey. To be honest, I wasn’t too happy seeing them kissing so I’m happy that it didn’t lead to anything special. I don’t want to see her with anyone else than Beltran.

The plot of this book, however, wasn’t as good as in the last book. I may even say that it was quiet in a way that nothing spectacular happened until the last 50-100 pages of the book. It wasn’t bad because we learned a little bit more about the characters. We learned things we didn’t know about Grey, Verida, and Beltran that rounded up nicely the meaning of the story.

Now’s the time to talk about the best part of the book, which is the ending. And I’m not talking about a full ending. I’m talking about the last 8 pages that completely melted my heart. I don’t want to give you any spoilers, but I love these 8 pages with my whole part. I reread them three times already and I still can’t believe that I need to wait now a long time to read the fourth book. I need it now!

Rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

For anyone who still didn’t read this series; DO IT! It isn’t a known book series but is definitely worth reading! I’m obsessed with the story and its characters, especially Beltran. I promise you will like it! I would like to thank TheWriteReads and Devri Walls for providing me with a copy of this amazing book and including me in this tour.

Publisher: Egmont

Book Review

Ebenezer Tweezer never cared about anything more than himself. Thanks to his magical “friend” and its potion he was able to stay young and handsome for 511 years. The only thing he had to give to the beast in return is preparing the meals he asked for. In the beginning, they were small, easy to find things. However, with time it got so much harder. He started to ask for things like rare birds and animals. It was not an issue for Ebenezer, he was able to do everything to get the potion. This is how his life was going on until the beast for the first time requested from him to bring him a living child to eat. It was a shock for the man, but it did not stop him from fulfilling the wish. After many tries, he finally found the nastiest and rudest kid that no one would miss and brought it to the beast. However, the beast was not happy with Ebenezer’s choice. The girl he brought Bethany was too thin for him to enjoy the meal. He gave Ebenezer a few days to make it right.

Ebenezer is a very shallow person, but it is not a surprise. The biggest surprise for me was his knowledge of the world. From the beginning, it looks like he’s living in his own world and doesn’t look around what is happening in the world. He lives already for 511 years but he did not know that he cannot buy a child in the store. It’s pretty clear that instead of enjoying his life as he was planning to, he devoted it to getting more and more years by fulfilling the beast’s wishes. However, his purpose changed with time when he met Bethany. I think that the best part of this book is when these two are getting closer to each other.

Bethany, on the other side, is a child who never got any attention she needed from the people around her. That’s where the nasty behavior comes from. Moreover, she is a very smart girl. She listens to what people are telling her and she is using it as an advantage. She knows how to trick and manipulate people to give her what she wants.

The story overall is very interesting. It’s not long so you can easily read it in one day. The book has a mystery but also a moral in it. However, most parts of this book consisted of the good humor of the characters. A lot of events in this book were hilarious, I could give you some example because I don’t want to spoil too much about this book.

This book is definitely written in a good style with an amazing plot and interesting character. I actually was very interested in it after seeing the similarity of the style in Coraline, which is one of my favorite middle-grade books and I was right. I didn’t read books in this genre for a long while so I was nicely surprised after finishing this story. I am curious how the story will continue in book two.
